4. Gather all the cards. Mix up the cards and place them face down. Take turns playing concentration. Turn over two cards at a time until you find a pair that shows an animal and its home.

From the animal cards and environments that you made cards for, choose 1 to investigate.

1. Tell the animal you chose. Include a picture.
2. Describe the environment of the animal.
3. What threats does this animal face? How is its environment being affected by human beings?

Step 3: How can you make a difference?

1. You may decide to use the textbook source number 1 to get you started as a newreporter. Use the template provided in the link to make your case and make a difference.

2. You may decide to make a calendar page with a picture of your animal or its environment. Be sure to include a sentence that makes the public aware of the problem.

3. Use the class flip camera to create a 2 minute documentary film as a newsreporter to describe the plight of your animal. You must first write your documentary in the form of a persuasive paragraph.
4. Write a persuasive paragraph to the editor of a newspaper or television station convincing them to consider printing your article or airing your documentary.

1. Scott Foresman Choice
It's a disaster, folks, out here in the ecosystem. The latest weather conditions are destroying the fragile balances of nature, and it's anyone's guess when these conditions will break! Pretend you're the news reporter for your local ecosystem during a disaster such as a flood, hurricane, or drought. Tell your viewers about the changes that are going on. Then wrap up your report with an interview with one of the creatures badly hit by the disaster.

2. Calendar template to print.
